Farewell

I know that many people are not pleased with the job that President Bush has done while in the White House. I must admit that I am not one of those people. I don't think that all of the problems we are facing as a nation can be blamed on this man. I believe that Pres. Bush made decisions for our nation that he thought were best. I believe that he made many of his decisions based on his personal convictions and his beliefs in God. I do not necessarily agree with all of his decisions, but I respect him for sticking to his beliefs and trying to do what is best for our nation.

As I listened to his farewell to the nation last night, I was filled with sadness. I was sad not just because he is leaving office, but because it signifies another farewell to a chapter in my life with Ryan.

President Bush was in his first year of presidency when Ryan and I first met (Sept. 11, 2001). He was president throughout our dating relationship, our engagement, and our marriage. We spent election night 2004 together, having an Election Party with our friends (including a LARGE map to color in red and blue states).

Ryan really respected Pres. Bush and his convictions; he didn't always agree with him, but he always respected him. He would take the time to explain to me all the in's and out's of the different political discussions. He was patient with me as I "ignored" important decisions being made in our country. I often wonder what Ryan would think of this new era in American history. I will miss his thoughts, opinions, and explanations in the upcoming weeks and years.

I completely agree. I read this article the other day and he stated how he is able to leave the office with his integrity- knowing he did not back down from his personal convictions.

I wonder what Ryan would be thinking Obama and all the changes that are occurring!

Wonderfully said Kristin!

I "love" to listen as people..everyone assumes they have the right to judge president bush..we are not to judge him - we are to pray for him. I will continue to pray for him and his family as they make major changes in their life right now..just as I will be praying for obama and his family. I love to hear stories about Ryan..including this one - he truly was a wise, blessed man, a wonderful husband and a amazing father..I only wish I had the pleasure of meeting him -- my prayer is that i am blessed with meeting his strong, faithful wife in the near future!!! :o) Praying for you each and every day! God bless!

I agree with what you have said about President Bush. I am very conservative and I feel the LORD has placed Obama in office, so the Christian community will rally together and pray for our nation and for him. God has always known who was going to win. Knowing that, helps me to deal with the "change" that we are going to endure. I know we can't truly know where anyone stands regarding their beliefs, but if we all pray, God could change his heart and have him decide that partial birth abortion is just wrong. Any abortion for that matter. What an awesome testimony that would be for him to take a stand like that.
