Today I started the process to begin substitute teaching. I think this will be a good opportunity for me to get my "teacher fix" while also giving myself a break from mommy-hood. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE being a stay at home mom. I think it is the best job in the world and I am glad that we are in a position where I can continue staying home.
Teaching was a career that I greatly enjoyed, but I don't think I could ever go back to it full time. It was something that I gave 100% to and I don't know how I would manage that while being a mom. I am hoping to sub only one day a week, maybe two. I choose a school that I am very familiar with -- it is the elementary school that I actually attended. There are still many teachers there who actually taught me --crazy! I have missed being in the classroom, so I am looking forward to this opportunity.
On a side note: The laptop is still out of commission. I have tried turning it on two different times. Both times I was able to use it for about an hour and then it would just shut off again. It is being looked at by a family friend; hopefully he will at least be able to recover the information off the hard drive (i.e. pictures and videos). I am not sure what I am going to do as far as buying a new one is concerned. I have gotten used to the desk top, but it is older and doesn't always work quite right.

K, how wonderful for you to get back into the schools! I hope the laptop will make a full recovery. So...was at Harvest last weekend and they were short volunteers, so guess who ended up with the 3 year olds???? Yep, ME!!! I did end up pulling a "supernanny" on one of the kids who was throwing crayons all over the table and at other children...sigh...that experience has made me realize yet again why I'm not a mom. YOU on the other hand are totally an amazing mom...Lily and Wyatt are blessed beyond what they know having you!
I am excited for the chance you get to student teach. I pray that God will enable the application process to go smoothely and quickly and that you will get an assignment soon. I am really happy that you will get some adult time and time away from the house I pray,it will be nice for you. I completely understand about needed a day off from full time mommmying, for the shere sake of adult communication alone ;). Keep me updated on this! Love you!!
oops, i meant subtstitue teach, not student teach, duh, silly me!!!
What a great opportunity, and at you old school, how fun!
That's a great idea, Kristin, I'm glad you get to do this! I have several friends who work a day or two each week in their various careers, and I think it's good for us :)
lots of love,
Laurie
I am sure doing that once or maybe even twice a week will be fun and good for you. I hope it works out!
