Today has been a rough day and it is only 11:00 am. Ryan had trouble breathing early this morning so they did an x-ray. They found out that Ryan's right lung is "collapsed". It is not truly a collapsed lung, there are just so many secretions that it is unable to open up on its own. The doctors are going to try some new treatments today and they are going to be very aggressive with his chest therapy to try and clean him out. This has probably been building for the past few days, but they did not realize it because he hasn't had an x-ray done since last week Saturday. They did have to bump his oxygen level up to 55% and his PEEP up to 8.0, but they should be able to wean that back down, at least the oxygen. They are planning on having him stay on the ventilator all day today and tomorrow they are hoping that he will feel up to doing the trach mask in 2 hour increments.
Ryan is feeling a lot better now and I am so thankful to report that it has not changed his status on the lung transplant list. Please pray that the doctors have continued wisdom and that Ryan's new lungs would be available very, very soon (I keep telling him that I would accept new lungs for Mother's Day :)). Please pray also that Ryan is able to go down and see the kids today. He would have to go down on his portable ventilator, but I know that the kids would be great emotional medicine for him!
Thanks for your prayers today!

Hi Kristin!
I'm sorry I didn't get to see you a couple weeks ago at Chapel Pointe. I just wanted to let you know that we are still praying for you and Ryan and thanking God in advance for all He's doing, going to do, and done for the both of you. I just wanted to say hi and send some encouragement. May God bless you this Mother's Day - and hoping, too, that Ryan will get his new lungs soon.
In God's Grace, Nikki Pawlaczyk
