Most of you have heard by now that today did not go as planned....that is probably an understatement. If this post ends up being a little random, I apologize. I have not been this exhausted in a long time.
Ryan and I arrived safely into Ann Arbor last night and got a good night of sleep. Getting up this morning seemed okay, but Ryan was not feeling great (not anything overly different though). When we got up to the cardiac center they hooked Ryan up to the different monitors and they were concerned with his oxygen saturation levels (90-91 on 5 liters of oxygen).
It soon became apparent to us that the procedure would not be happening. The cardiologist came in to talk with us and he contacted Dr. Ojo. Both of them did not feel comfortable having Ryan go forward with the heart cath. They were concerned about safety and a bad score that would effect Ryan's ability to be listed as a transplant candidate.
It was decided that we would be moved to the ER where they would proceed with a lot of tests and then be admitted to the hospital here. Ryan and I both had to mentally adjust to this change of plans and it was not easy. When we said good-bye to Wyatt and Lily last night it was only supposed to be for 24 hours. Ryan was supposed to have this procedure done and then be listed by Friday. Ryan was supposed to be feeling better and getting ready to start going back to work. I was supposed to be home tonight to work more on packing for our move on Saturday.
We have adjusted mentally and we do know that we are where we need to be right now. Ryan is getting great care! He has been started on 2 more antibiotics that make a lot of sense. He will be monitored here by Dr. Ojo and her staff as well as other doctors who specialize in lungs. He will probably be able to have the heart cath done as an inpatient procedure now too. He did have a chest x-ray done in the ER which still shows pneumonia which is the reason for the new antibiotics. I was able to get a room in the hospital hotel -- that is a huge blessing because it is not easy to get into these rooms.
I will probably be traveling home at some point tomorrow. Ryan will be here for awhile, probably at least through Monday or Tuesday of next week. We are still planning on moving on Saturday (yes, I know I am crazy, but it is something that really needs to happen for Ryan's health).
We both really appreciate the prayers and offers of help!
