Meeting

We had our family meeting today. It went okay, the doctors admitted that this was a much different meeting than they were originally planning on having with us. Dr. Hyzy (attending) told us that while Ryan has made excellent progress in the past few days we still have a long, hard challenge ahead of us. Most patients who have been on ventilators for this long struggle to ever come off. We know that God can beat all odds and that nothing is impossible for him.

GOALS (in order):

• Get oxygen down to 40% (currently at 50% because of different settings)
• Get PEEP down to 5.0 (currently at 8.0)
• Start trying to wean Ryan from the vent for short periods of time (hoping to start tomorrow)
• Get Ryan sitting in a chair
• Get Ryan walking (need to get 450 feet in 6 minutes)
• Get Ryan off the vent (during the day at least)
• Get reactivated on Transplant List

Please pray that Ryan gets the best nurses who follow the doctors orders well! The doctors have written for Ryan to get chest therapy for 10 minutes every 4 hours. Most of our nurses have been good about this, but tonight wasn't going well. I had to talk with the charge nurse before we left, so hopefully Ryan will have a good night and get all of the therapy he needs.

Please pray for me as I am really missing Lily and Wyatt. I do not want to be away from Ryan, but I really miss the kids. I am feeling some anxiety about being away from them; please pray that my spirit is calmed. I know that they are loved and safe and having fun!
