Today has been another day of progress for Ryan. He did the trach mask for 1 hour straight today. They also just put him back on the pressure support setting so maybe he will stay on that for awhile too.
Physical therapy had Ryan out of bed today as well. He stood up and used a walker to take some small steps. He was then able to sit in a chair for awhile. All of these things are steps in the right direction.
He was so cute when I walked in this morning. He said, "watch this" and he sat up in bed without using his hands! He was so proud of himself (so was I for that matter)!
I am praying that God will use this situation in our lives to reveal himself to those around us. It has been interesting talking to some of the doctors in the last week. May God receive all the glory for Ryan's accomplishments and stepping stones over the last week!
Also, I have "moved into" the Transplant House today. The opportunity was opened up to me through our nurse asking one of the transplant staff about it being a possibility. It was checked into and it was an option for me. It is one more blessing from God as it is closer to the hospital and less than 1/2 the cost of the hotel. There is a kitchen and laundry facilities available to me while I stay there. It will be nice to have a house to go to at the end of the day!
Thank you for your continued prayers! We have come so far but we still have a long way to go.

Hi. I am not sure if you will remember me, I think we met several years ago, but I am Ashley (Burke) Byers. I just wanted to say that I am praying for Ryan and for you that God gives you both strength and continues to work His miracles with Ryan's recovery. I also want to say that you are such an inspiration and testimony to what a godly wife is and the sustaining strength of God. God bless you both.
