Happy Mother's Day to all of the wonderful mothers that I know. Ryan and I were blessed to be able to see both of our moms today.
There has been another bump placed in our path today. Ryan was diagnosed with C-DIF. This is an infection that effects his gut. As far as infections go, this is an "easy" one to fix. He began an antibiotic that he has to be on for 10 day and then he can be re-listed. They will continue to give him this antibiotic until he has his transplant to make sure that the infection does not come back. He has to be placed on hold because when he does have his transplant he will go on immuno-suppressant drugs. That would allow the C-DIF to get out of control and become a huge disaster.
Ryan and I, along with our families, were really disappointed today, but we are so grateful to God that Ryan did not get his new lungs in the last few days. That may seem weird to say, but the consequences of new lungs and C-DIF would have been devastating. We are so glad to know that God is in control and that he is watching out for us even when we don't understand at first. We are also glad for the "break" that will allow Ryan to get back to trach mask a little more slowly as he gets over his lung issues from yesterday.
Thank you to all who have been praying for the last 24+ hours. Ryan is feeling a lot better today. He rested all day both days on the ventilator, but was still able to see the kids both days!
