Blessings

Pictures of our adventure outside!

Today was a day filled with blessings! First, Dr. Hyzy wanted Ryan to do trach mask for 6 hours today. Ryan's start was difficult, but after a little nap, some suctioning and a breathing treatment he really got going! (His sats started in the low 90's and ended around 97%.)

We were also blessed to be able to go outside! It was the first time that Ryan has been outside in 4 weeks. I am not sure who enjoyed it more, but it was great for both of our spirits! ICU patients very rarely get to go outside, but the nurses made it happen for us and Ryan was able to do it while on trach mask. The only bad part was when we got stuck in the elevator on the way back to Ryan's room :)

Our third blessing of the day was a visit from some people from Ryan's work. They arrived just in time to join us outside. Ryan really enjoyed hearing about work and talking about different market issues with them. Thanks Susan, Scott, Steve, and Tom for stopping in to see us! Thank you to the entire team for the fun care package for us as well.

God has been so good to us! Dr. Hyzy told me two weeks ago that he was not sure Ryan would be able to wean from the vent and he is doing it with flying colors. Roxanne, Ryan's nurse, told Ryan that he was doing so well and that many patients have a much harder time weaning. The resident told me tonight that Dr. Hyzy is impressed with what Ryan has been able to do. All that either Ryan or I can respond with is that God is doing mighty things for us! He has given the doctors wisdom and He has given Ryan the determination.
